Fall To-Do List (2014)

My Summer to-do list helped me stay focused on what I really wanted to accomplish over the summer so much that I decided to make a Fall one too!

Below you’ll find a list of some goal-oriented tasks I will strive to accomplish, as well as some fun “Fall-themed” date nights I hope to make happen before the end of the year! I know, I know… that will technically be a little bit into Winter, but oh well!

1. Finish the upstairs completely

Matt and I have done a lot already since moving in, but we’ve been busier than usual lately, so the work has taken a seat on the back burner. I hope to have the upstairs completely done, so that at the start of the new year, we can begin work on the basement!

2. Walk 100 miles

I set little fitness goals for myself using my RunKeeper app sometimes. I had originally set a ‘walk 500 miles’ from May to December goal for myself, but seeing as I only have about 77 of those miles done now… I think I’ll switch it to 100 from October-December. That way I only have to shoot for about 1 mile a day instead of 4.5. That sounds much more doable!

3. Sort through and clean all the junk in the basement

Oh. My. Goodness. This one is going to be the hardest for me. First of all… it’s a basement that has not been finished, so there are spiders (Insert terrified Cara face here). Second of all… we have way too much junk. This task is daunting to me, so encourage me along the way to make sure I’m able to get this one done! I want to have everything sorted through and cleaned up before the end of the year so we can get off to a good start refinishing our basement come January. It’s too much for me to be able to have a yard sale this year, but I want to sell as much stuff on Craigslist as I can, and get everything else ready for a yard sale when the weather gets warmer.

4. Go to a corn maze

Now we’re talking! Enough of the work stuff, let’s get on to the fun stuff! Last year, we got a Living Social deal on a corn maze in Southern Indiana that we planned to go to with the Olivers. A few days before the Saturday we were set to go, a storm hit the maze and destroyed it! And to make matters worse, it was their last weekend open for the season! We got our Living Social deal refunded (Praise the Lord), but we were still pretty bummed that we missed out on the corn maze. So, the four of us made a pact that we would try it again this year.

5. Carve/Paint Pumpkins

I can only remember carving a pumpkin once in my life, but I specifically remember these two things… it was very messy, and it was a lot harder than I expected. So, that’s why this one is a carve/paint goal! I will be painting my pumpkin this time around. But Matt’s a boy and boy’s like knives more than paint brushes, so I’m sure he’d rather carve his pumpkin. It’ll still be fun either way!

6. Go to the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular

I’ll steal the description from their website:

“The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular began in Oxford, Massachusetts in 1988. It’s entertainment for the entire family. The Louisville event, October 9 – November 2, will be held in Iroquois Park with 5,000 carved pumpkins lining a ¼-mile walking trail, illuminated at night as an “art show” daily from dusk to 11 p.m. during the week (Sunday-Thursday) and midnight on Friday & Saturday.”

My friend, Kelly, went to this event last year and she went on and on about how awesome it was! Matt and I have been looking forward to this for a while now!!!

So there you have it… my Fall goals for this year! What about you? Any special plans this Fall?

That is a good list and doable! Just take the basement little by little, a few areas at a time and it will not seem so overwhelming! I have learned that the things I dread doing the most are the things to begin asap and the dread is not longer there! Good Luck!!
