Today I’m starting a new blog series that I’ll post on the first Saturday of every month. I’ll be reviewing gluten free store-bought foods and baking mixes. These are not sponsored posts, and all opinions are my own! I’ll be rating each item on price, preparation ease, taste, and my dear gluten-loving husband’s approval.
Today I’m reviewing King Arthur Flour’s Gluten Free Muffin Mix.
It’s a mix that I’ve used many times over the past year. It’s easy to bake, delicious, and my husband frequently asks me to pick it up at the store. Anything gluten free that catches his attention is well worth it to me.
Since the mix is just a base vanilla muffin mix, it’s easily customizable. I love it with blueberries, but chocolate chips or nuts would also be a great choice. I’m not positive how long these will last after baking, since they’re usually gone in two or three days at our house, but the box says they can be frozen and reheated, which makes them a good option for a quick breakfast.
Price: $6.95 – 2/5 (Taking into consideration the fact that most gluten free items are going to be pretty pricey.)
Prep/Cooking Time: about 35 min. – 4/5
Taste: 5/5 (I’d choose this mix over a gluten-flour muffin any day)
Husband’s Approval: 5/5 (When I asked he actually said 12/5, but I wanted to stick to my scale.)
I’ve seen these mixes sold at several stores, including Kroger, Meijer, and Braum’s (which has an unusually good selection of gluten-free items). But you can also get the mix delivered straight to your door if you order online.
If you’re on a gluten-free diet (or have friends and family who are) and find something you’d like me to review next month, please let me know in the comments!
