Kieklak Twins Toddler Room

For the twins’ 2nd birthday, our big present to them was a room update. Here are some ‘before’ pictures:

When it was a nursery, we had their two cribs under the “J” and “B” and the changing table under the framed puzzle on the wall. That was the only furniture in the room. When They were around 18 months, we moved them out of their cribs because we knew we would start fostering soon and we didn’t want to have to buy a 3rd crib.

Kieklak Spring Break 2019

This post is back-dated for March 2019 – I’m perpetually behind on blogging!

We had a great Spring Break this year. I tried to get the twins out of the house as much as possible, so we went out a couple times with friends. They had a blast at the zoo & at the Martin Park Nature Conservancy. We also had the youth come over to play games, and the boys loved getting to hang out with them. Here are a few snapshots from the week:

Kieklak Christmas 2018

We stayed in town this Christmas. We weren’t originally planning to, but we had a foster placement so we adjusted our plans. It was definitely the strangest and hardest Christmas we’ve gone through, but we grew so much as a family and all of our friends and family served us and our foster little so well. We felt incredibly blessed, God provided for us in ways that we never could have imagined. It was a crazy start to our foster journey, but we wouldn’t change a thing.

The boys had a lot of fun with the Christmas tree this year, and they loved their presents. The big thing we got them was a hockey set, and they play with it all the time. I also bakedĀ gingerbread cookies for the first time, and they turned out really well.

Here are some pictures of our family of 5 during the Christmas season.

#weksfoster {Preparing Hearts & Home}

I wrote this post in December, a week before our home was opened & we accepted our first foster care placement.

We (the Kieklaks) are at the tail end of the foster care certification process. We were supposed to have our home open by November 1st, but there was some forgotten paperwork that surfaced after we signed our contract. Now, after the 1st of December, we’ve gotten all the paperwork (actually all of it this time) sent in to DHS and we’re just waiting for approval. Our foster care agency will want us to take another respite care placement before taking a (more) permanent placement.

An Open Chair at Our Table

It’s been a while since we posted regularly on here, but we wanted to tell you guys about some big changes. Both of our families started foster care this summer! We wanted to update you with where our families are in the process so you can be praying for us as we begin this journey.

Let’s start by explaining why we feel called to foster care. We’ve always had a heart for serving, and what better way to love your neighbor than to provide a safe home for a child in need? We both feel we have a safe & loving home to offer (though maybe a little crazy sometimes!) and more room in our hearts and homes, so we wanted to get involved.
