For their first birthday, our boys had an airplane-themed party. I wanted to go with a theme that was very easy for cake decorating & minimal on the other decorations, but still cute. I made the boys little individual cakes so they’d each have their own little cake (we’ll see if I continue that tradition, it might be too much work once they have their own opinions and preferences).
I also made a larger cake that was for the rest of the guests, and I used a little toy seaplane for the topper. I saw someone else do something similar and I loved the idea of having a topper that is also a toy so I’m not wasting my money on something I’m only using once.
We kept the party pretty small, just family & a couple close friends, and we served pizza and cake. The boys had a lot of fun playing with all their new toys. Their favorite was definitely the tee-pee Aunt Erika gave them, and their new little couch fit perfectly with it. They have continued to love it and play in it daily.
The boys also got some books, toys, a water table, a ride-on train, and these kilofly baby tents that are a must-have for twin parents. They pack down super small and are great for traveling with littles. It took some adjusting to get our boys used to them, but now they love them. In the video below they’re playing with the train and one of the tents.
Overall, they Kieklak boys’ first birthday was a success. Thanks to all our friends and family for coming to love on our boys. They’re lucky to have you!
